Excerpt of a speech by Michael Parenti on race, gender and class relevent to 08 politics.

This election has moved focus on issues of race, gender, and class to the fore with all the baggage and myths. The contest between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama dug up negative perceptions and race baiting as well as the "post-race" delusion.
"white working class voters" have gotten much attention as a voting group. The MSM has walked a rhetorical tightrope of defining people by their class while keeping up the myth that class does not exist in modern America. Parenti's "Competition of Oppression" was at play and stirred up by Clinton, pitting women against African-Americans.
